Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Brian later moved with his family to Yorkton, Saskatchewan where he completed his Junior and Senior High School education.

Moving to Calgary in 1970, Brian became involved in Equestrian Show Jumping, which took him all the way to being a part of the Bronze Medal winning team at the Pan American Games in Mexico in 1974.

Hardworking and dedicated, Brian worked through a 4 year apprenticeship as an electrician, completing his final year working for Siemens of Germany on the Calgary Light Rail Transit.

Joining A.E. LePage Melton (which later merged with Royal Trust to become Royal LePage), Brian applied his strong work ethic and dedication to this new career, and in his very first year achieved the Million Dollar Club and Rookie of the Year awards.
